In the Odesa region border guards found counterfeit products almost 200,000 hryvnias worth

More than 5,000 packs of Ukrainian-made tobacco products without excise duty stamps and 18 liters of surrogate cognac were found yesterday by law enforcement officers in a Renault Trafic minibus.

So, the other day, realizing operational information, border guards of the Belgorod-Dniester detachment together with representatives of the National Police of Ukraine on the Odessa-Reni highway, within the controlled border area, stopped the specified vehicle for check.

At the request of police, the driver of Renault refused to allow to inspect the vehicle. The car was taken to the penalty area in Artsyz.

Yesterday, after receiving the decision of the Belgorod-Dniester City District Court, as part of the criminal proceedings, officers of the operative-search unit of the Belgorod-Dniester Border Detachment together with the police inspected the car. As a result of the inspection, law enforcement officers found counterfeit products that the driver, a citizen of Ukraine, intended to sell in border settlements on the eve of the New Year holidays.

Investigative actions are underway. The detected goods were seized by representatives of the National Police.
